Being Generous Like Jesus

Year-End Giving Campaign

A Letter From Our Pastor

As we head into this Christmas season it is evident that the Holy Spirit is moving and doing something new at Brookswood Church. Journeying through the Sermon on the Mount this Spring and the book of Colossians this Fall, we are encouraged to see congregants challenged, inspired, and empowered to use their God-given gifts for the vision and mission He has called us to as a church. We believe God wants to do more in us and through us in the coming year!

Vision Fund

So as we head into the new year, I am excited to announce our 2024/25  Vision Fund.

The Vision Fund is our year-end generosity campaign to transform lives and communities in the name of Jesus.

We launched the Brookswood Vision Fund three years ago for two big reasons:

IN US: To create a culture of generosity at Brookswood that frees our hearts to love Jesus more than our money. Jesus said where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

THROUGH US: To transform lives and communities in the name of Jesus. We all want to be generous like Jesus and make a real difference in people’s lives but we don’t always know how. Well, the Vision Fund is your chance.

Our Goals

GOAL ONE:

BLESS OUR MINISTRY PARTNERS

  • GOAL: $20,000 IN ABOVE-AND-BEYOND GIVING

TO OUR CURRENT GIVERS:

Firstly, thank you! Your faithfulness has been instrumental in helping us pursue our mission of leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ!

Our request to our current givers is this: prayerfully make an above-and-beyond gift to bless our ministry partners. Every dollar given makes a difference in the lives of those they serve.

Last year we had a goal of $12,000 and you generously giving a total of $16,000!

This year our vision is to raise $20,000 and give 100% of it away to four of our local and global ministry partners.

With costs of food, housing and living increasing, people from all walks of life need help. For the eleventh year running, the number of Canadians making charitable donations has declined again. Meanwhile, service usage is at an all time high, with one in five Canadians turning to charities to meet basic needs and the majority of charities saying they can’t keep up with demand. These ministry partners are on the front lines of meeting the real physical and spiritual needs of people in our community and around the world.

100% of what you give will go to helping pregnant mothers and their children, food insecure families and individuals, Muslims and other new immigrants to Canada, and people living in extreme poverty around the world.

More importantly, these organizations are meeting people’s practical needs in Jesus’ name, which is the greater need. Why would we withhold that greater gift just to feed somebody. Let’s do both!

GOAL TWO:

BUILD FUTURE FINANCIAL STABILITY

  • GOAL: 20 NEW COMMITTED RECURRING GIVERS

IF YOU ARE NOT YET GIVING REGULARLY:

As Christians, we believe that developing the discipline of generosity is a critical component of discipleship: God owns everything and therefore everything we have is a gift. The scriptures are clear that God has called us to faithfully steward what he has entrusted us with by giving him our first and our best. Just as God is generous with us by giving us Jesus and everything that we have, He also calls us to be cheerful, sacrificial and generous givers.

Jesus says you cannot serve both God and money because you can only serve one Master. Jesus isn’t after your money. He is after your heart. He wants your heart to be free of the love of money. The best way to do that is to decide on a percentage of your income and commit to giving it first, right off the top of your paycheck.

If you’re not yet giving regularly, please prayerfully consider committing to regular giving to Brookswood. This helps to reliably fund ministry, which in turn helps to build future sustainability, as we pursue our mission of leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Your Generosity Makes a Difference

When you give to The Vision Fund you will be helping us create a culture of generosity and partnering with us to make a real and enternal difference in people’s lives in 2025 with the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Brookswood, thank you for your generosity. We couldn’t do this without you.

Sean Horner
Lead Pastor

P.S.

We believe that Jesus calls us to sacrificial and cheerful giving, not equal giving. Whether it’s a one-time gift or recurring gifts, $10 or $10,000, — every gift matters.

7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

– 2 Cor. 9:7-9
